The beginning of the partnership between AromaPartners and Akademia Górnośląska

This is a genuine source of pride for us – since May 2026, City Cosmetics sp. z o.o. and AromaPartners have been partners of the “Perfumery – Fragrance Creation” programme at Akademia Górnośląska. As part of this collaboration, we will share practical knowledge and experience gained in the perfume industry with students.

The European perfume market is developing dynamically, and Poland is becoming an increasingly important centre for fragrance production and brand development. The growing number of new projects means that the demand for perfume industry specialists is greater today than ever before.

As we wrote in our post regarding perfume forecasts for 2026, for many brands perfumes have evolved from an additional element in their portfolio into a key component of it. Consumers are becoming more aware not only when it comes to fragrance selection, but also regarding the ingredients used, technical parameters, and the impact of the fragrance pyramid and individual notes on the overall perception of a perfume. They are looking for new opportunities and are open to new brands, which is why perfumes are now successfully launched not only by major brands but also by smaller companies, including niche businesses.
This demonstrates the significant growth potential of perfumery in Poland today and confirms the rationale behind creating a programme dedicated to this field.

About the “Perfumery – Fragrance Creation” programme

“Perfumery – Fragrance Creation” is a postgraduate programme at Akademia Górnośląska designed for individuals who wish to acquire or expand their competencies related to the creation, analysis and development of fragrance compositions. The programme will be delivered as a hybrid postgraduate course and will cover two semesters. Participants will have the opportunity to gain competencies in:

  • understanding fragrance ingredients – both in terms of technical aspects and classification, as well as their influence on the overall perception of perfumes,
  • fragrance composition, ensuring that final creations are developed harmoniously and in accordance with the art of perfumery,
  • market and trend analysis, enabling the creation of fragrances that are not only beautiful but also aligned with consumer needs,
  • branding – including brand building, which is crucial to a product’s success,
  • sensory evaluation and fragrance assessment – enabling participants to reliably evaluate and describe fragrances, which is useful both in fragrance composition evaluation and in creating briefs and conducting debriefings,
  • chromatographic analysis – used by fragrance houses to analyse and identify ingredients within fragrance compositions,
  • safety principles – including allergens and their impact on the overall safety of ingredient use,
  • legal regulations – ensuring that every created fragrance composition can be used in the manufacturing process without obstacles,
  • the fundamentals of fragrance psychology – enabling the creation of engaging fragrances that may become iconic over time.

Among the lecturers and mentors will be:

  • Monika Opieka – an expert in natural perfumery, participant in training programmes discussing the role of scent in therapeutic work, creator of olfactory experiences for BWA Wrocław, the Museum of King Jan III’s Palace at Wilanów, the POLIN Museum and the Museum of History, as well as founder of the bottanicum brand,
  • Bogdan Wójcik – perfume creator and analyst, founder of the PerfumeCraft blog, author of articles on Fragrantica, and long-time trainer delivering courses based on his proprietary “Perfumer’s Alphabet” programme,
  • Mikołaj Buczyński – co-owner and manager at City Cosmetics sp. z o.o. and AromaPartners, as well as the author of this publication, with more than a decade of experience in the perfume industry.

Ultimately, each participant will create a sample of a finished perfume that complies with both the art of perfumery and regulatory requirements.

What will the collaboration involve?

The foundation of the collaboration between AromaPartners and Akademia Górnośląska will be the exchange of experience, expert support and mutual promotion of related events.

As part of the collaboration, we will participate in modules covering the perfume market, branding and business models. As a private label contract manufacturer of perfumes, we have extensive experience in these areas, which we will be able to share while focusing on educational value and maintaining confidentiality towards our business partners and clients.

We also plan to organise an optional study visit to the new City Cosmetics sp. z o.o. factory built in 2026 for programme participants. During the visit, we will be able to demonstrate how perfume manufacturing works in practice and share our knowledge even more effectively.

Mikołaj Buczyński from AromaPartners among the lecturers and mentors

Lectures within the business-focused module will be delivered by Mikołaj Buczyński from AromaPartners. He has been associated with the perfume industry, cosmetics sector and private label market for over a decade. During this time, he has participated in projects for dozens of private label brands and more than one hundred product launches. He is also the author of numerous industry publications featured in “Business Life Polska”, “Świat Przemysłu Kosmetycznego”, as well as the magazines “Chemia i Biznes” and “Kosmetyki i Detergenty”.

Thanks to his experience, he will be able to share knowledge that combines management and marketing theory with the practical realities of the perfume industry. We believe this will help programme participants better understand market realities and effectively apply their newly acquired competencies – both in business and throughout their professional careers.

Akademia Górnośląska – experience, practice and a modern approach to education

Akademia Górnośląska named after Wojciech Korfanty in Katowice is one of the most recognised private universities in the region, educating specialists in various fields of science and business for more than 30 years. Its history dates back to the early 1990s, and today it is one of the largest and most dynamically developing academic institutions in Silesia.

Over the years, Akademia Górnośląska has built a strong position in both education and research activities. A particularly important confirmation of its academic standing is its authority to award academic degrees. In 2005, the university obtained the right to confer the degree of Doctor of Economic Sciences in the discipline of Management Science, and in 2016 – as the first private university in the Silesian Voivodeship – it obtained the right to confer the degree of Habilitated Doctor in the discipline of Management Science (currently Management and Quality Sciences).

The university places great emphasis on the practical dimension of education, combining academic knowledge with the experience of experts and professionals active in the labour market. As a result, students gain competencies useful in both the public and private sectors, in Poland and internationally.

Currently, Akademia Górnośląska offers numerous degree programmes in the fields of social sciences, medical sciences and health sciences. It is also one of the regional leaders in postgraduate programmes, specialist courses and professional training. Its educational portfolio includes programmes related to physiotherapy, psychology, pedagogy, nursing, management, law and information technology.

The scale of the university’s activities is reflected in the numbers – more than 43,000 graduates of degree programmes and nearly 11,000 graduates of postgraduate studies, courses and training programmes have received diplomas from Akademia Górnośląska. They form a community of professionals developing their careers across many industries and sectors of the economy.

Another strength of the university is its extensive cooperation with the socio-economic environment. Akademia Górnośląska actively collaborates with business organisations, public institutions and the scientific community, ensuring that its educational programmes respond to current labour market needs.

Akademia Górnośląska is a place that combines many years of experience, a modern approach to education and practical preparation for professional careers – both for individuals beginning their professional journey and for specialists seeking to develop their competencies.
